Woodbridge
poised to take on North
Jersey 2 - Group IV!
The Woodbridge
Barrons Football Team clinched a NJSIAA playoff slot
by defeating Edison 30-06 this past Friday night. With one game to play before the playoff
brackets are finalized, Woodbridge (5-2,
51 PP’s) is ranked 6th by the Power Points System. Even though the Piscataway Team has an
identical season record and Power Points total, head to head games are the
first tie breaker. Woodbridge
defeated Piscataway 17-14 in OT on 10-17-2003.
For the Barrons,
there are two scenarios that can develop.
First, Woodbridge
beats JP Stevens (5-2, 56 PP’s) ranked 5th by NJSIAA, on Friday
night, 11-07-2003 at 7pm in Edison. The win coupled with any loss by Bayonne,
Irvington, Bridgewater-Raritan, or Union
puts the Barrons in the top 4 based on Power Points. The more defeats endured by the current top
4, the higher Woodbridge will move
up at the end of next weekend, when the NJSIAA completes their rankings and
pairings.
Second, JP
Stevens beats Woodbridge. The Barrons can not
lose their playoff slot, but will most likely slide down in the rankings, but no
lower then 8th . Elizabeth
(4-3, 32 PP’s) ranked 9th and Columbia
(3-4, 24 PP’s) ranked 10th can not make up enough Power Points to surpass
the Woodbridge Team.
Woodbridge
is a lock for the playoffs, and their future is in their own hands when they travel
to Edison and the showdown with JP Stevens.
My
Prediction: Woodbridge
- 21 JP Stevens - 14
