Week 5 Record: 5-0  1.000

Carteret (4-0) at Woodbridge (2-3) – Analysis:

Carteret

Offense: The Ramblers have scored 163 points (40.8 pg). They are a run first offense, and have a 309 yards rushing pga with the brunt of the workload going to Quartius Byrd RB (43 carries for 428 yards, 107 pg, 6 TD), Antoran Chandler RB (47 carries for 301 yards, 75.3 pg, 5 TD), and Angelo Golino QB (28 carries for 197 yards, 49.3 pg, 1 TD).  Their passing game is anchored by Golino (31 completions on 53 attempts for 439 yards, 8 TD and only 2 INTs) to Keanu Chapman WR (10 receptions for 149 yards and 3 TD), and Dwayne Sharpe WR (8 receptions for 128 yards and 3 TD).

Defense: The Ramblers have allowed 51 points against (12.8 pg), and are led by Jarrod Tasnady DB, Justin Taylor LB, Dwayne Sharpe LB, Jordan Demorla LB, Emmanuel Omokha LB, and Farhan Khan DT.

Special Teams: James Hart PK (19 made for 22 attempted PATs, .864 average, and 0 made for 1 attempted FG, .000 average).

Woodbridge

Offense: The Barrons have scored 95 points (19.0 pg). They have a balanced offensive attack with 131.4 yards rushing pga with Da’Avain Ellington RB (69 carries for 324 yards, 64.8pg) , Keyshaun Henry QB / RB (36 carries for 174 yards 34.8 pg), and Messiah Daniels RB (5 carries for 109 yards, 21.8 pg) leading the way. They also have a quality passing game, and have a 125.8 yards pga. They are led by Donovan Tabon QB (40 completions on 67 attempts for 621 yards and 7 TD). His big targets are Quaasim Glover WR (20 receptions for 264 yards, 13.2 pr), Henry (13 receptions for 192 yards, 14.8 pr), and Messiah Daniels (5 receptions for 106 yards, 21.2 pr).

Defense: The Barrons have allowed 84 points against (16.8 pg) and are led by Nick Nyers LB (68 TKL), Alex LaGrippo DT (36 TKL), Antoine Hall LB (38 TKL), Marquan Payne DE (28 TKL), Christian Figueroa LB (22 TKL), Dylan Leone LB (28 TKL), Quaasim Glover SFT (23 TKL), and Antonio Lopez DE (20 TKLS).

Special Teams: Woodbridge has no kicking game and cannot depend on PAT/FG points in a close contest. The Barrons have made 1 PAT in 10 attempts, .100 average.

With that said:  The Ramblers and Barrons have competed against two common opponents, Colonia and Kennedy. Both have defeated their opponents with Carteret holding a slight offensive scoring edge of 83PF to 71PF. But it flips the other way on the defensive side to the Barrons with 34PA to 39PA. Very close. Woodbridge must stop one player, Quartius Byrd RB, and his explosive ground game. If that takes a primary and secondary spy, so be it. Force someone else to carry the load. Home field may be an advantage, and if Woodbridge shows up like they did last week in Iselin, its lights out. If they don’t bring that powerful and focused effort, it’s going to be lights out for them. Understand, Carteret is a hungry team with a good coaching staff. They are fighting for their own playoff seeding as is Woodbridge. But the biggest reason to “Strap Up and Deliver” this Friday, October 14 at 7pm, is without a win over Carteret and the reaping of the Power Points associated with them, there isn’t a clear path to the playoffs. It’s as simple as that. One play at a time, one game at a time. Carteret is next!

(x) Woodbridge (2-3) over Carteret (4-0)

Kennedy (3-2) over (x) North Brunswick (0-5)

J.P. Stevens (1-3) over (x) Perth Amboy (0-4)

South Plainfield (4-1) over (x) Colonia (1-4)

St. Joseph (5-0) at (x) Donovan Catholic (0-5)

Home Team (x)

Season Record:  18-5   .783
