Plenty to Play For!

By:  Charles McDevitt  -  November 1, 2005

Seven games are in the record books, with three left to play.  The season record hasn’t been positive, and a playoff appearance isn’t happening.  But there is plenty still to play for.

First and foremost is your own personal pride.  You have worked too hard, for a very long time, not to step up and be seen and heard.  Most of you seniors will never play another down of organized football again in your lives.   Live it now, breath it now!  It will come and go all too soon.  You will always be able to look back and remember how you turned a poor season into respectability, if you continue to work hard.

Second is for your coaching staff.  Coach Russo and his staff have worked hard and long too.  Each and every one of these men has put his best effort into developing a successful season.  They deserve the same respect they have delivered to you all season long.  That respect can best be translated into gritty, determined play.  That play will undoubtedly produce positive results!

And lastly, because we never quit at Woodbridge High School!  From the first day WoodbridgeFootball.com was launched, the motto has always been “Hustle and Hit, Never Quit!”  I have never observed “quit” in any Woodbridge player in the past three years.  Frustration and dejection, yes.  “Quit”, never!

You are a part of an 82 year tradition that has always strived to be the best they can be!  Continue that tradition by always representing yourselves, your team and your school successfully.
